Day 2: Now that Christmas time is over I feel there is no longer a need for the snow. The only time I look forward to snow is in the month of the December. After living in Arizona and California, I love the touch of the sun’s rays on my skin and the energetic atmosphere where volleyball is played year-round and shovels are a myth. When I lived in the lovely city of Benicia, California my front porch was a view away from the Bay Area. Although the Bay Area water isn’t the cleanest, the view of the water is something you can neve get used to! I miss getting a sandwich from Kinders and walking on the pier. The manner in which I stay connected to these memories is by listening to the music by the band Rootdown and Paul Wright! I was introduced to Rootdown because every summer, since my father is a pastor, my youthgroup would go to Alliance Redwoods Camp. The first time we went there Paul Wright and Rootdown were the music entertainment. There concerts are amazing and incorporate the crowd! I have never seen anyone not touched by their music! They perform an awesome “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air!” My family became good friends with Rootdown and everytime they are in the area we all try to get together and hang out. It has been an awesome experience playing Call of Duty with them, watching the band become more famous and all their travels! Their music is inspiring and gets you ready to start the day off right! Whenever I feel down or my day is really boring I just turn on some Rootdown and everything is flipped around! Rootdown makes all year feel like summer and everyday flip-flop weather! Next time you get in your car I challenge you no matter the weather conditions to roll down your window and blast Rootdown!
Kicking off 2012 w/Project 365 – My SooperMan January 3, 2012

Day 1: The new blogging theme for 2012 is Project 365. The challenge is to blog about a topic for one year and then write about it. I have chosen to post a photo everyday and blog about it! My first story starts on a gloomy Tuesday afternoon while shopping in King Soopers, I see an attractive employee. This is not just any employee, this is the ultimate Sooper! The way his scruff wraps around his face, his long legs stride across the tiles, and his dedication to work by arriving at King Soopers for over 2 years (sarcasm). I declared him my SooperMan! Since I am a creeper I tried to take a picture, but my camera is just too slow! Haley DiMarco writes, “But a patient expectation and a willingness to be overlooked if he’s just not that into her gives a woman an air of mystery that will one day allure just the right man” (Woman of Mystery 62). Until God reveals Clark Kent’s real identity to me I can count on my SooperMan to be there and give me great deals on ice cream!
Hello world! January 3, 2012
So I would like to start my first blog with a little introduction of myself! It is the beginning of 2012 and I cannot move forward without knowing where I am from! I am stoked for the new things to come!!! This is the Where I Am From Prose.
Where I am From
I am from a retired football player whose turn around became a Pastor. I am what they call a PK. From a woman who at age 19 made it her first priority to stay at home to raise her children.
Where parents model marriage is forever through the thick and thin.
Every morning my father tells the kids at the breakfast table to be a leader not a follower. You make your own choices and lead the team.
I am from a place where eating steak is the best meal at dinner and shooting a 12 gauge in the backyard is practical.
A family spends Saturday nights watching classic war movies or sitting on the back porch listening to Frank Sinatra with the smell of my father’s cigar lingering in the air.
I am from family comes first and the Godfather is a source of wisdom, “Never go against the family.”
You never unpack your boxes since you know you’re going to move again. I am from the North cattle ranches in Montana, to noodling in Missouri, to the desert in Arizona, to my front doorstep opening up to the bay in California, but always coming back to the Rocky Mountains in Colorado.
I am from living my life out for Christ. Following His plan for my life even though that means moving a lot and going through a period of time where you watch the food in the refrigerator slowly disappear and wonder where the next pay check for the groceries will come from.
Having the faith God will provide and where whining is not allowed. Praise is sung every time God delivers.
I am from a place where it is better to transform then to conform.
Where being the eldest child it’s your responsibility to lead the others and set the example even when it’s hard and sucks.
I am from the decision to wait for Mr. Right and when I am the woman God wants me to be then He will bring me the man He’s preparing for me.
I am from a home where if you don’t place sports then you won’t succeed in life. Where winning is number one and competition is 95% of my body. Where 2nd place is the first loser. You are the best in everything and if not, then you’ve failed.
From a home where liking any team other than the Broncos will get you kicked out of the house.
I am from where you hate anything that is Red because it goes against the Yankee religion.
I am from holidays where family is crazy, but you still love them.
Everyone is created in God’s image and important to the team.
I can’t pin point one place where I am from instead; I am from every person, city, state, practice, game, adventure that makes up who I am now.
